Armando Leza Case
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals rejected an appeal from a condemned inmate sent to death row for stabbing to death a disabled San Antonio woman in her home almost 10 years ago.
Armando Leza, 40, was convicted of stabbing Caryl Jean Allen, 57, in 2007 after she refused to give him money for a $1,000-a-day drug habit
Leza’s lawyers said he’s innocent of the crime, and contend his deficient trial lawyers contributed to his conviction.
Leza’s girlfriend also was charged in the attack. She testified against him in a plea deal.
No execution date has been set.
