Dorsie Johnson Case

n the early morning hours of Sunday, March 23, 1986, appellant and his accomplice, Amanda Miles, decided to commit a robbery at the Allsup’s convenience store in Snyder. After planning the crime, deciding that there should be no witnesses, and waiting for the store to clear of customers, the pair entered the store. On the pretext of wanting a particular item, appellant lured Huddleston, the clerk, back to the cooler where he was told this was a robbery and to lie face down on the floor. Appellant then shot the clerk in the back of the neck with a .25 caliber pistol, killing him. Amanda Miles emptied out the cash drawer taking approximately $160.00 (one hundred sixty dollars). Two cartons of cigarettes were also taken.

Appellant was arrested in April for a subsequent robbery and attempted murder of a store clerk in the neighboring town of Colorado City. It was in the course of investigating this latter offense that appellant confessed to the capital offense committed in Snyder.
