Jordan Clemmons Case
The same jury that took 75 minutes to convict a Pennsylvania man of first-degree murder in the throat-slashing of his estranged girlfriend took about three times as long to decide that he deserves the death penalty.
The Washington County jury opted for execution instead of a life sentence for 26-year-old Jordan Clemons of Pittsburgh.
Karissa Kunco’s naked body was found Jan. 12, 2012 in a wooded area of Mount Pleasant, covered in leaves and other debris a day after prosecutors say Clemons slashed her throat so deeply the knife hit her spine. They say that happened after Clemons persuaded Kunco to meet with him to discuss their relationship after threatening suicide as she tried to end the relationship.
Although Clemons will join 184 other inmates on death row in Pennsylvania, only three have been executed since 1963.
