Tony Clark Case
A central Mississippi jury is sentencing a man to death for murdering a 13-year-old during an attempted convenience store robbery in 2014.
Local news outlets report Madison County jurors gave the sentence to 38-year-old Tony Clark Thursday in the death of Muhammad Saeed.
Jurors convicted Clark on Tuesday of capital murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
A surveillance video shows Clark and his nephew, 23-year-old Teonta Clark, entering the store. Tony Clark shot Saeed in the head in front of his father, Fayd Saeed. He also shot the father, who survived.
Clark failed to open a cash register before leaving.
Teonta Clark is scheduled for trial later this year. Prosecutors say they won’t seek the death penalty because he didn’t shoot the boy.
