Lisa Snyder is a killer from Pennsylvania who would murder her two children

According to court documents Lisa Snyder would hang her two children, Conner Snyder, 8, and Brinley Snyder, 4, in the basement of her home

Lisa Snyder would call 911 and tell the operator that she found her two children hanging from a wire cable in the basement. Lisa would tell authorities that Conner was being bullied at school and was suicidal. However Lisa older child would tell police this was not the case and ultimately she would be arrested and charged with the two murders along with a host of other charges. It turns out that Lisa had her children removed from the home due to homicidal thoughts back in 2014

Authorities believe that Lisa planned to kill Conner Snyder and during the process of the murder Brinley Snyder walked into the basement which led Lisa to murder the four year old as well.

Lisa Snyder would go to trial five years after the double murder where her lawyers attempted to convince the jury that she was insane at the time of the murder however she would ultimately be convicted. Prosecutors have declined to seek the death penalty in this case so more than likely she will be sentenced to life in prison without parole

Lisa Snyder Case

Lisa Snyder, the mother charged in the 2019 hanging deaths of her two children in the basement of their home in Berks County has been found guilty, officials say.

Snyder was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Conner Snyder, 8, and Brinley Snyder, 4, during a non-jury trial.

A Berks County judge delivered the guilty verdict in court Tuesday afternoon, five years after the gruesome killings.

On September 23, 2019, the two young victims were found hanging approximately three feet apart from a single wired cable with plastic coating in the basement of their Albany Township home after Snyder called 911,

Snyder was interviewed twice by authorities before she was taken into police custody and arraigned in Hamburg.

Authorities linked the mother to the children’s deaths after discovering internet searches for suicide and crime shortly before they were found

Officials say Snyder claimed her son Conner was bullied and was suicidal. Snyder’s teen son, who lived in the house, as well as other witnesses, refuted the claim that Conner was bullied and said he never mentioned being suicidal, according to investigators.

Authorities previously reported that the two children had been removed from the family’s home in 2014 by Children and Youth Services (CYS). They were returned in February 2015 and Children Protective Services had been involved with the family until Nov. 2015.

When it comes to filing to seek the death penalty, back in 2020, prosecutors said the crimes meet the threshold of aggravating factors required in Pennsylvania for a capital case.

“The decision to seek the death penalty was not made lightly, but we decided there was overwhelming evidence of the aggravating factors,” District Attorney John T. Adams said.

Lisa Snyder News

Lisa Snyder, the Pennsylvania mother on trial for the hanging deaths of her two young children, has been found guilty, according to reports.

Local WFMZ, ABC 6, and The Reading Eagle reported that Snyder, 41, was found guilty Tuesday, Sept. 24, of first-degree murder, child endangerment and evidence tampering in a Berks County courtroom. First-degree murder convictions in Pennsylvania automatically carry a life sentence.

The Pennsylvania mother was found guilty of killing her two children, 8-year-old Conner and 4-year-old Brinley, in September 2019.

PEOPLE previously reported that Snyder was arrested in December 2019 in connection with their hanging deaths. The Pennsylvania mother initially claimed to police that she called 911 after discovering her two children hanging from a support beam in the family’s basement from the opposite ends of the same dog lead and two chairs overturned beneath them.

Snyder had told police her son was being bullied at school and made reference to wanting to die by suicide, and to not die alone. But several family members and employees at the 8-year-old’s school testified that Conner was never bullied at school, was not suicidal and never experienced sudden emotional changes, according to WFMZ.

The outlet reports that at the trial, prosecutors presented Snyder’s internet searches in the days leading up to her kids’ murders, on topics like suicide and the true crime TV show I Almost Got Away With It.

Prosecutors also provided evidence during the trail that showed Snyder purchased the dog lead used in her children’s murders the day before at a local Walmart, according to ABC 6.

“We are very pleased with the verdict,” Berks County District Attorney John T. Adams tells PEOPLE. “It’s something that will probably never leave our minds, because it was unimaginable. None of us could ever have imagined the brutality and the horrific loss of life. We’re very pleased that Lisa Snyder will never see the light of day and will spend the rest of her life in jail where she belongs.”

Conner and Brinley were discovered unconscious in the family’s basement after Snyder called 911, and the two children were pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital three days later, according to WFMZ.

The outlet also reports that Snyder’s adult son Owen Snyder testified during his mother’s trial, referring to her as “Lisa” rather than as “Mom.”

When asked why he was referring to Snyder that way, WFMZ reports that Owen told the courtroom he no longer considers her his mother.

Snyder’s sentencing will take place in October, according to ABC 6.
