Michael Disporto Case

A New Jersey man was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday for the sexual assault and murder of his girlfriend’s 23-month old daughter.

Michael Disporto, 30, of Manahawkin, received the life sentence with no parole eligibility for his first-degree murder conviction and a 40-year sentence for his aggravated sexual assault conviction, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office said. A jury found him guilty of both crimes last October.

Police found the toddler, Ariana Smyth, unresponsive on July 3, 2016. She was brought to Cooper University Hospital, where it was determined she suffered extensive injuries and was also sexually assaulted, authorities said.

The child died two days later when she was taken off life support. Medical examiners ruled the death a homicide caused by blunt force trauma.

Prosecutors alleged Disporto sexually assaulted the girl, caused the injuries that led to her death and convinced her mother, Amber Bobo, not to seek medical care for her.

Bobo, of Gloucester City — pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child. and was sentenced to three years in prison in May 2017.

Authorities said Bobo and Disporto picked the toddler up from her father’s home in Cape May County and brought her to Bobo’s home on South King Street in Gloucester City on July 2, 2016. Bobo and Disporto had been dating for about two weeks.

Disporto asked to be alone with the child to “get to know her better” and twice took her out of the house alone, prosecutors said. In the morning, Bobo discovered Disporto had moved Ariana and changed her clothes, according to charging documents in the case.

The child also had bruising on her head and genitals, she said, but Disporto denied causing them and convinced Bobo not to take the toddler to the hospital, court documents said.

Bobo admitted at her plea hearing that they instead took two separate trips to the Deptford Mall, where Ariana began to vomit. Bobo called EMTs that evening when Ariana lost consciousness.

Disporto was first tried for the murder and sexual assault in 2019, but the jury became deadlocked and the judge declared a mistrial.

Christopher Gregor Treadmill Murder

Christopher Gregor
Christopher Gregor

Christopher Gregor is a killer from New Jersey who was convicted in the manslaughter death of his six year old son Corey Micciolo

According to court documents Christopher Gregor would force the six year old boy to continue to run on a treadmill, which was all caught on video. Even when Corey Micciolo was falling over Gregor would put him back on the treadmill and forced him to run

Corey Micciolo began experiencing medical issues in the days that followed. He would tell his doctor that his father, Christopher Gregor, made him run because he was too fat. Days later Cory would suffer a seizure during a CT scan and pass away

Christopher Gregor would be arrested and convicted of manslaughter. He will be sentenced in August 2024

Christopher Gregor Case

A New Jersey father who forced his 6-year-old son to run on a treadmill as he increased the speed has been convicted for his death, according to Newsweek, NY Post and USA Today.

On Friday, May 31, following a month-long trial and nearly two days of juror deliberations, Christopher Gregor, 31, was found guilty of child endangerment and aggravated manslaughter for his son Corey Micciolo’s death. Gregor was found not guilty of first-degree murder.

“We’re happy with the verdict and we thank the prosecutor’s office,” Micciolo’s mother, Breanna Micciolo, told reporters outside of Ocean County Superior Court, per USA Today. “He deserves to be in jail. He’s a very bad man.”

During the trial, in which Gregor did not testify, jurors saw surveillance footage from the Atlantic Heights Clubhouse in Barnegat, N.J., that dated back to March 20, 2021. The footage allegedly showed Corey running on a treadmill as Gregor walked over to the exercise machine. The father began increasing the speed, causing Corey to stumble and fall. Whenever Corey fell off, Gregor would put him back on the treadmill and power it up further. At one point, he appeared to bite his son on the head in the video.

Days later, Corey was taken to see a doctor and said his father made him run on the treadmill because he was “too fat,” according to the NY Post. A day later, he was taken to the hospital after he began stumbling, having slurred speech, nausea, and trouble breathing after a nap. He suffered a seizure during a CT scan and died.

In July 2021, the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Corey had “sustained injuries due to blunt force trauma.”

Gregor was arrested and charged in March 2022.

Though his legal team challenged that the child died of an infection during the trial, his mother took the stand and said she filed for sole custody of Corey after she saw bruises on him, Newsweek reports.

Meanwhile, prosecutors argued that although the treadmill incident might not have caused the child’s death, it proved a cycle of abuse that led to the tragedy, according to USA Today.

“At long last, justice for Corey has been accomplished,” Ocean County prosecutor Bradley Billhimer told USA Today Network’s Asbury Park Press.

“Christopher Gregor must live the rest of his life with the knowledge that he, and he alone, was responsible for the death of his one and only son,” Billhimer added. “While nothing can bring this precious child back to his family, we hope that today’s jury verdict offers some semblance of peace and closure for those who knew and loved Corey.”

Gregor’s attorney said his client is “not surprised” by the jury’s decision, and plans to appeal.

Gregor’s sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 2. He could get up to 40 years in prison.

According to court documents Sherry Heffernan was upset with her father 87-year-old John Enders after he cut the realtor out of his will

Sherry Herrenan would travel to her father’s home in New Jersey where she would stab to death her father John Enders and his girlfriend 75-year-old Francoise Pitoy

Police would make the gruesome discovery. At an autopsy it was determined both victims had been stabbed several times as well as shot

Sherry Heffernan would be arrested, convicted and sentenced to two life terms in prison

Sherry Heffernan Case

A 57-year-old Pennsylvania woman will spend the rest of her life behind bars for fatally stabbing and shooting her father and his girlfriend in New Jersey in 2021.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced that on May 10, a judge sentenced Sherry Heffernan to two consecutive life sentences in New Jersey State Prison. In March, a jury found Heffernan guilty of the murders of her father, 87-year-old John Enders, and his girlfriend, 75-year-old Francoise Pitoy.

According to the prosecutor’s office, on Oct. 3, 2021, at around 4 p.m., Surf City Police officers responded to a home on North 7th Street, where they found the bodies of Enders and Pitoy. An affidavit reviewed by NJ.com says police found blood all over the home, as well as bloody foot prints and a discarded rubber glove.

An autopsy determined Enders died of multiple stab wounds with “severance of the right carotid artery and blunt force trauma,” and he suffered a gunshot wound to the face. Investigators discovered Pitoy also died of multiple stab wounds and sustained a gunshot wound to the face. The victims’ deaths were ruled homicides.

According to the prosecutor’s office, Enders owned the home where the victims were found, but Pitoy often stayed with him.

Heffernan, a real estate agent, became upset because her father allegedly didn’t want her to be the broker on his house, which was listed for $1.9 million. A friend told police that Enders revised his will and took Heffernan and his other daughter out of it, NJ.com reports.

Pennsylvania State Police arrested Heffernan at her home in Landenberg, Pennsylvania, on Oct. 4, 2021. She has been in custody at the Ocean County Jail since her arrest.

Billhimer said, “This defendant will spend the rest of her life in prison. This is an appropriate sentence, and we are hopeful that this brings some measure of closure to the family and friends of John and Francoise.”

Sherry Heffernan News

A Pennsylvania woman has been sentenced to two life terms in the shooting and stabbing deaths of her father and his longtime girlfriend 2 1/2 years ago in New Jersey.

Sherry Lee Heffernan, 57, of Landenberg, Pennsylvania was convicted in March of murder and weapons offenses in the deaths of her father, John Enders, 87, and Francoise Pitoy, 75, Enders’ longtime live-in girlfriend. Both were shot and stabbed repeatedly in Enders’ Long Beach Island home in the fall of 2021.

The Asbury Park Press reports that Heffernan stood calmly Friday as an Ocean County judge imposed the pair of consecutive life prison sentences. Superior Court Judge Kimarie Rahill said the crime “was committed with extreme depravity” and ordered her to serve 63 years, nine months without possibility of parole for each murder.

Minutes earlier, Heffernan had sobbed as she professed her innocence and called the victims “priceless people” she would “forever miss.

“I really wish I was the one who was killed, that I was the one who died,″ she said tearfully in a courtroom packed with relatives and friends of both victims. “ … It’s horrible to lose people you love and then be blamed for it.″

The sentence was handed down Friday in Superior Court in Mount Holly by the Hon. Terrence R. Cook, P.J.Cr., to Donovan Hollingsworth, who was convicted by a jury in August.
