Anthony Dick Case
A man with a history of domestic violence fatally shot his son and stepson and critically wounded his wife at a motel, then called his ex-wife to tell her “they’re all dead,″ authorities said. The man also shot himself, police said.
When state troopers arrived at the Stone Castle Motel shortly after 4:30 a.m. Tuesday to investigate a report of a domestic dispute, they found 18-month-old James A. Dick and 4-year-old Creed D. Vincent dead. Their father, Anthony, 41, told police he shot them as they slept, authorities said.
Dick’s wife, Betty, 27, was in critical condition with wounds to her head and back, authorities said. Dick “stated he isn’t sure what happened to Betty after he shot her, but he ’hopes she died,‴ according to the police report.
Arrest papers filed by police said Dick had called his ex-wife Marie Loomis shortly after the shootings, saying, “I’m at the Stone Castle, Room 31. They’re all dead.″
Dick was in serious condition with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his stomach, authorities said.
A magistrate charged him with two counts of homicide and one count of attempted homicide.
Betty Dick checked into the north-central Pennsylvania motel on Jan. 9 after a hearing gave her primary custody of James. Anthony Dick was also staying there, violating a protection-from-abuse order obtained by his wife, police said.
Dick, who was married three times, had a long history of violence against women and children, according to court documents. His ex-wife and a former girlfriend also had obtained protection-from-abuse orders against him
Dick was also prohibited by court order from possessing guns
