Charles Brant Case
On Thursday the Supreme Court of Florida upheld the death sentence for Charles Grover Brant.
Brant was sentenced to death on November 30, 2007 for murdering 21-year-old Sara Radfar in Citrus Park. Brant was also convicted of rape.
Sara was found dead in her home on July 2, 2004, according to the Supreme Court’s ruling. She had been strangled and suffocated.
Brant lived next door to the victim. Detectives found items belonging to the victim in Brant’s garbage, according to the Supreme Court report. He eventually confessed to the murder.
In 2007 Brant plead guilty to murder, sexual battery, kidnapping, grand theft of a motor vehicle, and burglary with assault or battery.
Brant had asked the Supreme Court to vacate his sentence and convictions, saying he an ineffective counsel during and after his trial. He pointed to multiple different factors. The court on Thursday rejected these claims.
