Nioshka Bello Case
A Central Florida woman has been sentenced to life in prison for strangling her toddler daughter with a bra.
A Seminole County jury found 24-year-old Nioshka Bello guilty Wednesday of first-degree murder, and a judge sentenced the woman immediately after that.
Authorities say Bello strangled 2-year-old Janessa Sandoval in September 2009 in a Casselberry home. Bello had argued with the child’s father and believed that she would be left homeless the next day.
Bello was taken into custody several days after the toddler’s death.
Bello spent months in a state mental hospital after being found incompetent to stand trial, but a judge reviewed medical reports last November and ruled that Bello was well enough to proceed.

Nioshka Bello News
A Florida mother recently released from a mental hospital will spend the rest of her life in prison for strangling her daughter with a bra.
Following a judge’s decision to proceed with the trial, Nioshka Bello was found guilty on Wednesday of first-degree murder in the death of 2-year-old Janessa Sandoval, NEWS-13 reported.
The jury took just a few hours to reach a verdict, which Judge Jessica Recksiedler immediately followed with a life sentence, according to CBS.
Authorities say that Bello, at the time unemployed, broke and facing homelessness, suffocated Sandoval on Sept.w 26, 2009, following an argument with the child’s father. Afterward, Bello swallowed upwards of 20 Benadryl pills and Tylenol tablets in a failed suicide attempt, police said.
She allegedly confessed to suffocating her daughter — at first with her hands and then with a white brassiere with hearts — during in an interview with authorities some time after the incident.
“I killed her … with my hands,” Bello allegedly told Seminole County police. “That’s the honest truth … I used my bra, too.”
Police took Bello into custody a few days after the child’s death.
Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty in the case.
