Rebecca Fenton is a killer from Florida who would be convicted of the murder of her husband Larry Fenton
According to court documents Rebecca Fenton would call 911 and say that someone had broken into her home and had murdered her husband Larry Fenton. Police would arrive at the Florida home and discover the body of Larry Fenton who had been shot three times in a puddle of blood.
No arrests were made for six years when a Florida detective would tie Rebecca Fenton to the murder of Larry Fenton. Apparently Rebecca told a new boyfriend during a fight where she would hold a knife to his throat that she would kill him just like she killed Larry. Also that Larry Fenton had a prenup that would give Rebecca nothing if they divorced and a million dollars if he died.
Rebecca Fenton would be arrested, convicted and sentenced to life in prison without parole

Rebecca Fenton Case
Piers Morgan has described convicted killer Rebecca Fenton as the “best liar ever” or a victim of an “extraordinary miscarriage of justice” after she was found guilty of murdering husband Larry in cold blood.
The Good Morning Britain presenter introduces viewers to Rebecca’s story in the first episode of his new Killer Women series , detailing how she was found found guilty of killing husband Larry at their home in Florida.
What makes the case so fascinating to Piers is the fact Rebecca has always staunchly denied murdering her husband or doing anything to harm him.
There’s also the fact it took six years for detectives to build a case against her
Rebecca Fenton, 49, was found guilty of the first degree murder of her husband Larry, 57, who was discovered dead in a pool of blood at their home in Clearwater, Florida in February 2008. She was arrested six years after his death and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
She is currently behind bars at the Lowell Correctional Institution in Florida, which is where she met Piers for their Killer Women interview.
However, Rebecca has adamantly denied murdering her husband and wants to appeal against her conviction, insisting she’s not a killer and had nothing to gain from murdering her husband.
What happened to Rebecca’s husband Larry Fenton?
Rebecca and Larry met at the gym when they both approached the same workout machine at the same time and started to chat. Rebecca was taken with Larry’s demeanour and Clint Eastwood-esque good looks, and things between them became very serious very quickly.
She called it true love and said their wedding day was the best day of her life.
They enjoyed an upmarket lifestyle, thanks to Larry’s well paid job as a pharmaceutical rep, which allowed Rebecca to own a beautiful home, car and wardrobe full of good clothing. By her own admission, she was “very spoiled and very pampered” by a generous and devoted husband.
But three years after marrying, on Super Bowl Sunday 2008, Rebecca phoned police and said she’d arrived home in the afternoon after exercising in the couple’s detached garage nearby to find Larry lying in a pool of blood on the floor of their home.
Sobbing down the phone, she described Larry as her “life” and pleaded for help, believing that her husband could still be alive. She also claimed the house had been ransacked.
An autopsy found Larry had been shot in the back, arm and neck.
TV cameras captured a grief stricken and devastated widow – but authorities soon began to suspect something was wrong.
“Larry was home,” she says about the day of his death.
“He was watching Tiger Woods (on TV) and then was going to take a nap and watch the Super Bowl later that evening. I checked on him to see if he needed anything and he said we would order a pizza later that evening and I went back out to the gym.
“The last thing that my husband said to me was ‘I love you’. I had my music blaring as I was working out. I walked into my house at approximately 4.30-5 o’clock in the afternoon and I found my husband.”
According to the local Tampa Tribune , Rebecca told investigators that she heard a bang that sounded like someone falling off the roof while she was working out. But rather than investigating, she shrugged it off and continued to exercise.
Two neighbours across the road described the noise as gunfire.
Why did authorities begin to suspect Rebecca Fenton?
Authorities began to question Rebecca’s story from the moment she voluntarily arrived at the police station to answer questions about what she’d seen.
Detectives questioned the authenticity of her grief, why she’d run out of the house after finding Larry if she thought there was a chance he was alive, and why she went upstairs in the home if she worried an intruder had ransacked the place and shot her husband.
After digging into the couple’s finances, it was discovered a watertight pre-nup would have protected Larry should the couple divorce. But if Larry died, Rebecca was in line for $1million.
The murder weapon was found wrapped in a plastic bag under the passenger seat of Rebecca’s car parked in the driveway. Detectives discovered the gun was owned by Larry and Rebecca, who said it was kept in the couple’s bedroom.
The gun cylinder had five spent casings and one empty chamber, according to the Tampa Tribune . Investigators matched the bullets that killed Larry to those fired from this gun. A box of bullets discovered in the couple’s bedroom had five missing.
Rumours that Rebecca Fenton had begun seeing another man called David, after meeting him in AA, also muddied the waters, with detectives suspecting there could be a “romantic and emotional involvement” between the two.
Rebecca’s house later burned down, which was floated as an attempt to claim insurance, especially as another house in the street had just burned home as well.
At the time, Rebecca Fenton told her local ABC Action News she had an 80-year-old veteran boarder living at the home, whom she rescued from the property, picking him up and taking him outside. “It’s just a house and we’re ok,” she said.
Although police had begun to build evidence against Rebecca Fenton, what they had wasn’t enough for the state to prosecute. They ideally needed a confession or a witness statement to proceed.
The breakthrough in the case came when cold case detective Mike Hasty was assigned to look over the evidence and began to piece together what he believed to be anomalies in Rebecca’s story.
Looking at crime scene photos, he saw that the blood around Larry’s body was undisturbed despite Rebecca Fenton claiming she’d checked Larry for a pulse so should have disturbed the pool.
Detective Hasty also suspected the ransacking of Rebecca and Larry’s home had been staged, as although drawers were flung open and things knocked over, no belongings were missing.
The biggest breakthrough was the emergence of a witness, Alfred Nolen, a former boyfriend of Rebecca, who claimed that during a dispute she’d once held a knife to his throat and said she’d “kill him like I killed Larry.”
Detective Hasty verified Nolen’s remarks with Nolen’s nephew and his nephew’s girlfriend, who both claimed Nolen had told them the story.
Additionally, new technology for assessing guilt or innocence during 911 calls had become available, allowing Detective Hasty to listen again to the language Rebecca used in her call, which he believed pointed to guilt.
At trial, it took the jury two hours to find Rebecca guilty.
Rebecca Fenton has always insisted she is innocent of murdering Larry and had nothing to gain from his death.
Despite a financial motive being suggested for Larry’s death, Rebecca claims she would have enjoyed a better lifestyle with Larry alive. She’s also constantly repeated the claim they were blissfully happy and in love.
“We had no cause for divorce. They were not able to prove we were unhappy. We were nothing but blissful but very much in love. We had no cause for divorce or even spoke of it,” she says.
“This man would have taken care of me in a very high class lifestyle for the rest of my life as long as he remained alive.”
Rebecca Fenton has an answer for every question about evidence that Piers throws at her during his Killer Women interview, explaining each and every suspicion raised by detectives, claiming:
She loved Larry.
She had no financial motive to kill Larry.
There was no gun residue found on her skin or clothing.
Nolen's claims she held a knife to his throat and said she'd kill him are untrue.
There was no DNA evidence.
Footprints and fingerprints found at the scene were never identified by detectives.
She did not burn her house down for insurance money.
She was just friends with the other man, David.
She can't remember what she said in her 911 call as she was so worried about Larry.
Additionally, her lawyer points out that Rebecca Fenton had six years to flee the state or country if she was guilty, but she stayed put which is not the work of a guilty party.
“I was very much in love with my husband, I had a lifestyle that was very grand, it would not have done me any good to hurt him,” insists Rebecca.
“I would not have gained anything moneterial, I would have gained more having him alive. I am not spiritually capable of hurting anybody, I am not a murderer, I did not do this.”
However, she was found guilty by the jury and sentenced to life in prison with no parole
