Richard Chambers Case
An Oklahoma man who murdered three people during a statewide killing spree has been sentenced in Pontotoc County.
On Friday, November 7, 42-year-old Richard Dewayne Chambers was given three consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole for the three homicides, including seven years on the remaining counts.
At around 11:30 p.m. on December 17, 2024, Pontotoc County deputies responded to a suspicious incident at a residence near State Highway 1 and County Road 1512 in Allen.
When deputies arrived, they found 84-year-old Robert Peliti Sr. and 70-year-old Jackie Peliti severely injured. Jackie was pronounced dead at the scene, while Robert was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died, according to authorities.
Chambers was named as a person of interest, and after gathering evidence, he was also linked to a homicide in Midwest City, where he shot and killed 62-year-old Annie Brown.
“The OSBI, working with not only Pontotoc County Sheriff’s Office, the Midwest City Police Department and OHP [Oklahoma Highway Patrol] as well. We were able to identify a person of interest who we believe is linked to these three murders,” Hunter McKee, with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, said during the time of Chambers’ arrest.
The Midwest City Police Department released a press release during the time of the events, saying that he [Chambers] was living in Brown’s backyard.
“She loaned her shed out to a lot of people. There was electricity in there; it was just a place to sleep that’s not on the streets. It’s just kind of crazy to think that someone would take advantage of that,” said Braelyn Hill, a next door neighbor of Annie Brown.
Following the murder, Chambers stole Brown’s vehicle and drove to a home nearly 90 miles away, in the small town of Allen, where he then killed both Robert and Jackie Peliti.
“You’re talking about in a short amount of time. Quickly, three innocent people, who are now gone,” said McKee.
On December 18, 2024, he was later found by local law enforcement agencies in rural Hughes County, where he was arrested and taken to the Pontotoc County Jail on multiple murder charges.
