Stephany LaFountain Case

A young mom’s actions that a Fairbanks district attorney said “shocks the conscience” will keep her behind bars for at least four more decades.

Stephany Elizabeth (LaFountain) Bilecki (formerly , who was found guilty in 2018 of murdering her infant daughters, has been in jail for the last six years awaiting sentencing.

The wait ended Monday; Bilecki was sentenced Monday to a composite sentence of 130 years with 85 years suspended in Fairbanks court.

“The conduct forming the basis of defendant Bilecki’s convictions shocks the conscience,” Fairbanks District Attorney Joe Dallaire said in a statement. “Although we cannot pretend that anything will ever make up for the losses suffered by the fathers of these babies or their other family members, I do hope the convictions and the sentences imposed affords some measure of justice to the families of Jasmine and Chyanne and to the Fairbanks community at large.”

The 29-year-old was found guilty of both murders in 2018.

Several years after her 4-month-old infant Chyanne turned up dead — Bilecki called her in-laws and 911, and denied having involvement in the death — a second child died while under Bilecki’s care. Investigation revealed Bilecki’s 13-month-old daughter, Jasmine, died from a lack of oxygen.

At the time of the murder in 2017, Bilecki’s husband was deployed.

While investigating the second murder, authorities found suspicious searches within the hour she called 911 that included search terms like “ways to sufficate” and “ways to kill a human with no proof.”

In 2018, Bilecki was charged with the 2015 and 2017 infant murders.

In August, she pleaded guilty to two second-degree murder charges
