Christina Adams Case
An Ocala woman was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences this week for fatally stabbing her father and attempting to stab her mother to death inside their home in 2022 after her parents asked her to move out.
On Wednesday, a two-day trial came to an end when Marion County jurors found 33-year-old Christina Anne Adams guilty of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder with a deadly weapon. Following the conviction, Judge Timoty McCourt sentenced Adams to two consecutive life sentences for the murder of her father, Richard Langer, and the attempted murder of her mother, Sally Langer.
Back on September 16, 2022, shortly after 8 a.m., Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence located on SE 70th Terrace in Ocala in reference to a stabbing incident. Upon arrival, deputies located two victims, Richard and Sally Langer, who had been stabbed.
According to the MCSO arrest report, both victims sustained “significant injuries.” While medical aid was being rendered at the scene, an MCSO sergeant overheard one of the victims, Richard Langer, identifying his daughter, Adams, as the person who had committed the double stabbing before fleeing from the home.
The report stated that the victims lived in the main residence while Adams lived in a converted studio apartment that was “just off the main residence.”
Both victims were transported to a local hospital in critical condition. An MCSO detective was advised by hospital staff that one of the victims had sustained multiple puncture wounds while the other victim had been stabbed once in the chest.
Richard Langer later died from his injuries at the hospital.
While searching for Adams, deputies located her vehicle – a gray 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe – in the area of SE 85th Lane and SE 64th. A traffic stop was conducted, and Adams was detained and transported for an interview with MCSO detectives.
Adams’ wife was also in the vehicle, and she was interviewed separately. According to Adams’ wife, she had just finished running a few errands before meeting Adams at a local grocery store. She claimed that she didn’t notice anything “out of the norm” for Adams, and no mention was made by Adams regarding any prior altercation.
When questioned by detectives, Adams initially denied any involvement in the stabbing. However, the report mentioned that she later admitted to attacking both victims because she was angry over being asked to move out of the home that she shared with them.
Adams told detectives that she retrieved a large knife and proceeded to attack both victims, stabbing them multiple times. She stated that she believed the victims were deceased, and she did not make any effort to get medical attention for them, according to the report.
During the interview, Adams advised that she changed her clothing, attempted to destroy evidence, and then went shopping at a local grocery store. Deputies located her as she was driving back towards the incident location with her spouse.
Adams was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail, where she remained in custody while awaiting trial.
The case against Adams was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Toby Hunt and Amy Berndt.
