A Sandusky man pleaded guilty on Monday to aggravated murder in the death of his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter last year.
Devin O’Brien, 30, took a plea deal for the charge in Erie County Common Pleas Court, and it included an agreement that his recommended sentence would be life in prison without eligibility for parole. The charge also included a specification that it was sexually motivated.
A sentencing date for O’Brien has not been set yet.
The 3-year-old was found dead in Sept 2024 after O’Brien called 911 to report the girl missing when he could not find her after waking up from a nap at the home near Sandusky he lived at with his girlfriend.
Police searched the surrounding area and eventually found the girl dead. The following day, the Lucas County Coroner’s Office ruled her death a homicide caused by asphyxiation/strangulation.
