Kevin Farley Case
An inmate at Five Points Correctional Facility pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of first-degree murder for killing his roommate, according to the Seneca County District Attorney’s Office.
Kevin Farley, now 43, of Canastota used homemade shackles and a metal device to fatally strangle Adam Lafferty, 42, in the overnight hours between Dec. 22 and 23, 2024, according to prosecutors. Lafferty’s body was found in his bed inside the cell the following morning.
Prosecutors said Farley was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
“Today, Adam Lafferty’s family was able to experience a modicum of justice, watching the man who brutally murdered their family member over a year ago admit his guilt and be sentenced,” District Attorney John Nabinger said in a statement. “I join with Lafferty’s family imploring the New York State Parole Board to never release Farley back into the community.”
That sentencing will be tacked onto his previous sentence of 24 years to life in prison for a murder conviction in the Aug. 4, 2015 killing of Tiffany Meeks inside her Madison County home, according to prosecutors, who said Farley strangled Meeks with a cord after trying to rape her.
“The addition of 25 years to life on top of a sentence of 24 years to life ensures that Farley will remain in prison a very long time,” Nabinger’s statement continued. “However, the brutality of this crime combined with the complete and utter dispassionate manner in which Farley committed the crime and his actions after the fact, should result in a lifetime of incarceration.”
