According to court documents Benjamin Naylor would murder four people over a day period in three separate events. One person was murdered inside of their home and then hours later two people were found dead and finally a fourth person was murdered inside of their vehicle

On Monday, a 56-year-old man accused of killing four people in southern Idaho in July pleaded guilty to four counts of first-degree murder.
Benjamin Roy Naylor faced four counts of first-degree murder in connection with the homicides that occurred on July 8 in both Cassia and Minidoka counties. According to a news release from the counties, Naylor pleaded guilty in District Court to two counts of murder in Cassia County and two counts of murder in Minidoka County. Moving forward, Naylor’s sentencing will be held in Cassia County.
Authorities alleged Naylor killed one person inside their home in Rupert on the afternoon of July 8. Two additional victims were found hours later in Cassia County, and a fourth victim was discovered inside a vehicle, located at a gas station, in Minidoka County.
As previously reported by KTVB, Naylor’s daughter states he has schizophrenia, describing his condition as serious.
The state of Idaho announced it will not seek the death penalty in this case; however, Naylor will be sentenced to two fixed life sentences in each county, with sentences running concurrently.
The news release also states that Naylor has waived all appeals and that the families of the victims have approved this plea deal and the subsequent plan.
McCord Larsen, Cassia County prosecuting attorney, said, “This plea agreement represents justice for the victims and their families. While no outcome can undo the devastating loss these families have endured, this resolution ensures that Benjamin Roy Naylor will never walk free again. The victims’ families showed tremendous courage throughout this process, and their input was critical in reaching this agreement.
“By securing consecutive life sentences without parole, we have achieved certainty and finality while sparing the families from years of trial proceedings and appeals. I want to thank the law enforcement officers and investigators from both counties whose tireless work on this case made this outcome possible. Our office remains committed to supporting the victims’ families as they continue to heal from these unimaginable losses,” Larsen said.
The Minidoka County Prosecuting Attorney, Lance Stevenson, added, “This resolution brings a measure of closure to an unspeakable tragedy that has impacted our community deeply.”
Stevenson said, “The families of the victims have shown remarkable strength and dignity. Their voices were heard, and their wishes were respected in reaching this agreement. Four consecutive life sentences mean that Benjamin Roy Naylor will be held accountable for each life he took. I also want to recognize the exceptional work of law enforcement and victim advocates who supported these families through the darkest days of their lives. Our community stands with the victims’ families, and our office will continue to provide any assistance they need moving forward.”
Naylor’s sentencing is scheduled for March 9, 2026, at the Cassia County Judicial Center in Burley.
